Bio: I was Parliamentary Candidate for Sutton and Cheam in 2015, increasing Labour’s vote by 4.2% and have stood for the Sutton Council twice. I was a list/London-wide Assembly candidate in 2016. I am on the Executive of LGBT Labour (Elections and Campaigns Co-ordindator) and Disability Labour. I am active in the Co-operative Party and Fabian Society. I have a strong track record as a campaigner for equality and human rights, particularly disability and LGBT issues. I am a former President for the National Federation of the Blind and was part of disability coalitions that secured Disability Living Allowance and the Disability Discrimination Act. I was Head of Governance and Special Projects with the Disability Rights Commission and Programme Head for Health and Local Government Policy at the Equality and Human Rights Commission. I am blind and hard of hearing and have a black Labrador/retriever guide dog called Truffle.
